So, I went and jumped out of a "perfectly good airplane" and it was the craziest thing I have ever done!
Not too long ago I decided to start a "To Do List". Well I can now check this off my List.
Is anyone else a List person? Don't you just love crossing things off, I DO!!
The experience was over in a flash. We got there a little earlier than scheduled but began filling out our permits that basically stated over and over and OVER that we or anyone we knew would not and could not sue if something were to happen.
Blah blah blah... we both skimmed it over knowing the risks involved in what we (Aaron and I) were about to do.
We were dressed in our oh so flattering Lime Green Jumpers and cinched into our sturdy harnesses and given all but a two minute run down of how things were gonna go. I heard maybe half of it thanks to my adrenaline rush interfering with my thought process and ability to comprehend.
We are ready to head to the Plane!
Climbing in was a challenge as I tripped up the stairs. Still high on adrenaline all are in and prepared for take off. It takes about twenty minutes to get up to ten thousand feet, YES, ten thousand feet! In the mean time I am enjoying the view of the ground below as people and cars quickly disappear out of sight and we evaporate into the clouds.
Next thing you know it's time to GO!
All of a sudden I completely forgot everything that was instructed. We got to the door of the plane and I hear the count down ...3 ...2 ...1 we are falling... We were falling so fast I had to scream to catch my breath, that was the first scary part. About ten seconds into the fall you could say I got use to falling and started to have some fun. Found the camera guy and took some silly pictures, you don't have much time because the next thing you know it was time to pull the shoot! That was the second scary part.
The parachute Deployed!
We jerk back vertically and everything gets real tight and you feel like you are flying back towards the atmosphere. Then we slowly start to drift. With the parachute opened you can really start to relax and enjoy the view. The instructor let me steer for a awhile we did sharp turns and circles, slowed down, sped up, it was fun!
Then I watched Aaron jump from the airplane, my heart stopped for a second because I realized how vulnerable you are until your parachute opens. Once they were in the clear it was time for us to land.
Landing was graceful, you really hope to land standing up but if that doesn't happen you pray you don't come in too fast and hurt yourself. We landed perfectly! It was all over in about 40 minutes from start to finish.
We celebrated with Red Solo Cups and Shiner Bock Beer (Aaron's Favorite) after.
All said and done it was another great adventure!
